11-Day Silk Road Rediscovery Tour

Tour Overview
Remote ancient city ruins, dismal and boundless deserts, vast grasslands, tranquil and nice lakes, historical sites, and numerous immemorial cultural relics...your Silk Road journey will be unusual,and so let's trace the footsteps of the ancient camel trains!

Day 1 Arrival/Lanzhou (D)

Meet your guide at the Lanzhou Airport and transfer to the hotel.
Note: You can take flight from Beijing, Xian, Shanghai and some other China cities.

Day 2 Lanzhou to Xiahe (B, L)

Drive to Xiahe County (the county is very beautiful and is nicknamed the ""small Tibet), where you will visit the Songke Grasslands (aka Sanke Grasslands) and the Labrang Lamasery

Day 3 Xiahe to Lanzhou/on the train to Jiayuguan (B, L)

Drive back to Lanzhou. Take the overnight train to Jiayuguan (Train No. N851. Dep at 8:50PM – Arr at 7:36 next AM).

Day 4 Jiayuguan (B, L)

Transfer to your hotel from the train station.  After breakfast, begin your full-day excursion to the Great Wall Museum, the Jiayuguan Pass, the Great Wall on the Cliff, and the Weijin Tomb

Day 5 Jiayuguan/ Guazhou/Dunhuang (B, L)

After breakfast, transfer to Guazhou (Guanxi) to pay a visit to the Yulin Grottoes and the ancient Suoyang City (built in the Tang Dynasty). Continue to drive to Dunhuang.

Day 6 Dunhuang(B, L)

After breakfast, pay a visit to the Mogao Grottoes. Ride camel to the Echoing-Sand Mountain and the Crescent Lake. After the day sightseeing, be transferred to the train station for the overnight train to Turpan.

Optional Special Activities: sand sliding; parasailing

Day 7 Dunhuang/Turpan (B, L)

Explore the unique irrigation project -Karez Channels, Suleiman's Minaret (aka Sugong Pagoda) and the Grape Valley. Lastly, pass through the Flaming Mountain.

Day 8 Turpan/Urumqi (B, L)

Drive to Urumqi. Visit the beautiful Nanshan Pasture (aka the Nanshan Grassland), the Terai Camp, and the Erdaoqiao Bazaar.

Day 9 Urumqi/Kashgar (B, L)

Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to Kashgar. Be met and checked into the hotel. Then visit the Sunday Bazaar and the Abakh Khoja Tomb.

Day 10 Kashgar(B, L)

After breakfast, be driven to visit the beautiful Lake Karakuli.

Day 11 Kashgar/Urumqi/Departure (B)

Transfer via flight: from Kashgar to Urumqi; from Urumqi to your next destination (our arrangement).
