7-Day Guizhou Miao Area Hiking Trip

Tour Overview
This tour gives you a chance to walk through Miao villages,stay at farmers' home and experience their life. We will invite a local Miao to lead our trip at some places.The villages we walk through are Long Skirt Miao villages,they have many stilt wooden houses, domestic animals are raised and bared on the first floor, and people live on the upper floors...

Day 1 Arrive In Guiyang/Kaili Transfer (D)

Meet your guide and driver at the Guiyang Airport in the afternoon, then drive to Kaili directly. The rest of the day is at leisure. Hotel: 4star/3star hotel

Day 2 Kaili To Langde (B, L, D)

Drive 1 hour to a place, then we start to have a 5 hour hiking trip to Upper Langde (local name: Langde Shangzhai), we will walk through 5 Miao villages en route. Langde is a beautiful Miao village which was regarded as the national relics in 2002 due to its old buildings. In the evening, we will invite an old man from the village to tell us many stories about the Miao's ancestors, wedding and funeral ceremonies. Hotel: Family hotel of the local Miao people (the room with very comfortable beds and good facilities)

Day 3 Langde (B, L, D)

This morning, you will have your own free time. You can get up very late or get up very early to breathe the fresh air. If possible, you may join some agriculture activities or help the locals clean the village streets. Upper Langde is famous for its 12 road-blocking rice wine serves, Big Lusheng and bronze drum dance. In the afternoon, we will see a performance of songs and dances. 

Day 4 Langde To Xijiang (B, L, D)

Walk 5km to Upper Jidao Miao Village (local name: Jidao Shangzhai) and see the performance, Jidao is only opened to tourists recently, so the people here are very hospitable and they are eager to have tourists come. After the performance, we drive to have lunch in another Miao village. Then start a 2 and half hours walk to Xijiang, we will pass some beautiful Miao villages. Hotel: Family hotel of the local Miao people (the room with very comfortable beds and good facilities)

Day 5 Xijiang (B, L, D)
Xijiang is the largest Miao village in China where there are more than 1200 households, the Miao ancestors had arrived here and resided in this village some 800 years ago. We will visit the village museum and explore other facts of the village. In the evening, we will enjoy the night scene of Xijiang, another beauty of the village.

Day 6 Xijiang To Guiyang (B, L, D)

Today, we will hike (about 5hrs) through many Miao villages, then drive to Guiyang. Have the farewell dinner. Hotel: 4star/3star hotel

Day 7 Depart Guiyang (B)

After breakfast, you will be transported to the airport for your flight to next destination.

It's more proper to make this tour during Late March to November. The Miao people in this region spend the annual Miao New Year on the tenth lunar month which is usually around the middle of November, during the festival, there will be many ceremonious activities such as Lusheng playing, Bronze drum beating, so a tour to come across the festival is a good idea.
