Tour Overview
This is an easy tour package for senior citizens. From the dynamic metropolis in the Far East to the central China city drenched in over 5000-year history, to the world famous capital city with more than 3000-year history, you are sure to be stunned by the achievements of the reform and opening policy, and the great ancient Chinese civilization.

Day 1 Shanghai Arrival (no meals)

Upon arrive at Shanghai, you will be warmly welcomed by your local tour guide. And then be transferred to hotel by private vehicle. Check in at your hotel and enjoy the rest time at leisure to relax and explore the charming city.

Day 2 Shanghai (B, L)

Highlights today: the Shanghai Museum, Tianzifang, the Bund, Shanghai Tower

Today's tour begin with a visit to the Shanghai Museum. It is widely recognized as one of the best collections of ancient art in China. The bronze collection is considered the best in the world, with other first-rate exhibits of sculpture, jade, calligraphy, painting, and Ming and Qing dynasty furniture and minority art.

And then you will visit the Tianzifang. Tianzifang is a narrow lane dotted with local style Shikumen Houses, here you can appreciate the old Shikumen residences and find the epitome of locals’ life. Though Tianzifang possesses international sense of art, it’s still a residence area. You can steep into modern art atmosphere and take your time in some pretty handicrafts shops. And besides boutiques and art studios, there are various fascinating bars and exquisite restaurants where you can enjoy Italian, French, Southeastern cuisines, etc.

After lunch you will explore the Bund, Shanghai's famous waterfront area on the western bank of the Huangpu River. Originally a tow path for dragging rice barges into port, it slowly grew into the world financial center today. Your guide will take you into historical buildings and tell you stories about their past.

Transfer to the Pudong area and visit the Shanghai Tower, which is the tallest building in China and the 2nd tallest building in the whole world. Taking the world's fastest elevator to the 546m high floor, the world's highest observation deck, you can have a bird view of the city.

Optional night show:

The ERA Acrobatic Show is a fascinating show that tells a story from ancient times till present day. This show includes surprising feats, live music, complete plots and other spectacular features.

Day 3 Shanghai → Suzhou → Shanghai by private vehicle (B, L)

Highlights today: Garden of Net Master, Pan Gate, the Grand Canal, Pingjiang River

Full day excursion to Suzhou – a water city noted for its ancient private gardens, pagodas, old temples, and silk. In Suzhou you will first visit the Garden of Net Master, it's the smallest among the four most famous classic gardens in Suzhou, yet it is the most impressive, thanks to the architect who used its limited space smartly to create the illusion of a much larger area. 

After lunch, transfer to visit the only remaining ancient city gate in China with both a lower water entrance and an upper land entrance - Pan Gate. It was built at a time when a canal moat surrounded Suzhou.

Have a leisure walk along the Grand Canal, which is also known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the earliest and the longest artificial river in the world. And take a small boat in Pingjiang River. Passing old houses and bridges, seeing local people washing clothes at the dock and enjoy sunshine by the river.

Transfer back to Shanghai in late afternoon.

Day 4 Shanghai → Xian by flight (B, D)

Highlights today: the Hangyang Tomb, Tang Dynasty Singing and Dancing Show

After breakfast, be picked up to the airport for the flight to Xi'an. Upon you arrival, you will be welcomed by your guide at the arrival hall in the Airport. Drive 30min to visit Hanyang Tomb before transferring to hotel. Hangyang Tomb is a joint mausoleum of Liu Qi (188 -141 BC), the fourth emperor of the Western Han Dynasty, and his wife Empress Wang. The burial pits around the emperor`s tomb are the most important part. Adopting heated glass walls and tunnel to separate the relics and visitors into two areas of different temperature and humidity, visitors can see the excavated relics in short distance.

In the evening, enjoy the delicious Jiaozi dinner with the wonderful Tang Dynasty Singing and Dancing Show - A wonderful performance of the ancient music and dance.  

Day 5 Xian (B, L)

Highlights today: the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, Bell Tower, Wlid Goose Pagoda

In the morning, transfer to visit the famous Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, which is one of the highlight attractions in China. It is significant because the hundreds of detailed life-size models. In the afternoon, visit the Bell Tower, which locates in the central downtown and was built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty with a height of 36 meters and covers an area of 1,377 square meters. Later, pay a visit to Wild Goose Pagoda, first built in Tang Dynasty, which is for the storage of Buddhist scriptures taken from India by Monk Xuanzang.


Day 6 Xian → Beijing by train (B, L)

Highlights today: Ancient City Wall, Muslim Street, Great Mosque

After breakfast, visit the Ancient City Wall of Xian, the best-kept and biggest city walls in China. Then go to the Muslim Street, get close to Muslim people and their life. Besides, on this popular food street, you’ll find traditional dishes and special snacks. And the visit the Great Mosque, built in a Chinese architectural style and most of the grounds are taken up with gardens.

After lunch, take high speed train to Beijing. When arrive in Beijing, meet your guide and driver, and then check into the hotel. 

Day 7 Beijing (B, D)

Highlights today: Tiananmen Square,the Forbidden City, Peking Duck Banquet

Private escorted tour to the largest city square in the world, Tiananmen Square first. You will have chance to visit the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, which is at the south of the Square. Following time will be spent in the Forbidden City, which is the largest imperial palace in China for 24 emperors' reign during the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years. It's so big, we leave enough time for your to visit it at your pace. The newly opened areas like the city wall and the mysterious Cininggong. Back to hotel for a rest before go for special dinner of the famous Peking Duck Banquet, which used to be a royal court dish with a history of around 1500 years. 

Day 8 Beijing (B, L)

Highlights today: Mutianyu Great Wall, 798 Art District

Great Wall is a must-go when visit Beijing. We will show you a less busy part at Mutianyu. Drive 1.5hrs northeast from downtown, you will get to the foot of Mutianyu Great Wall. Take cable car to No. 14 Tower directly and then challenge steps on the Great Wall. It is suggested to walk to No. 23 Tower, the highlight section of the Wall. Spend around 2 hours on the wall and descend by cable car at No. 6 Tower. Drive back to downtown Beijing, visit 798 Art District en route, to be embraced by Beijing urban culture and world art trends.


Optional night show:

  • Beijing Kung Fu Show: A rare chance to watch the real Shaolin Kung Fu. The performers are the best and have mastered the difficult moves. 
  • Beijing Opera Show: It is one of the most famous traditional Chinese opera. The artists wear heavy make-up and act out the legends and romance with their unique style of singing and dance. 

 

Day 9 Beijing (B)

Highlights today: the Beijing Hutongs, Temple of Heaven,

Take a half day tour this morning. After breakfast in hotel, you will visit Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of architecture and landscape desig  where the ancient emperors used to pray for the God's bless of the whole nation.It is also a park that local people go for entertainments like singing and dancing, Taichi excercising, chess playing, etc. You can join them to experience their lifestyle. Afterwards, take a leisure tour of the Beijing Hutongs with a rickshaw riding near Houhai Lake. It's the best the way to learn local Beijinger's lifestyle and traditional culture in this old Beijing quarters. The afternoon is free for you to explore more of Beijing. 

Day 10 Beijing /Departure (B)

Free at leisure, transfer to the airport for your homebound flight. End of your 10 days Shanghai Xian Beijing tour. Welcome back to China next time!
