The Original Manuscript of Einstein’s Theory Were Unveiled in Shanghai Expo

It has been reported that two pages from the original manuscript of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity were unveiled Thursday at Shanghai’s World Expo.
 
Israel's finance minister Yuval Steinitz presented the documents at Israel’s Expo pavilion, Xinhua news agency said. The Israeli stand, which will be open until October 31, is the first one to be officially opened at the exhibition.

Steinitz, together with Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan, cut the ribbon at the inaugural ceremony, in which the Israeli flag was raised as the Hatikva was sung.
 
The pages exhibited have been selected from Einstein’s manuscript of 46 pages in total, containing the famous E=MC2 physics equation.

The manuscript was written by Einstein in his Berlin home in 1916, and donated to Jerusalem's Hebrew University when it opened in 1925. The document essentially redefined man’s perspectives on space, time and gravity.

It revolutionized scientists’ understanding of the universe, eventually leading to the discovery that the flow of time is in fact affected by gravity.

Albert Einstein was born in 1879 and won the Nobel Prize for physics in 1921, before fleeing Nazi Germany in the 1930’s, and eventually settling in the States.

The Israeli pavilion has, thus far, drawn long lines of people excited to learn of Israel’s impressive technological achievements, as well as its history and culture.

The pavilion has been designed by Tel Aviv architect Haim Dotan, whose mother was born in Shanghai.

The Shanghai Expo is expected to attract at least 70 million visitors through the course of its running, the majority of them Chinese, and event organizers have estimated that close to 3.5 million people would visit the Israeli stand in coming months.
