Turpan Meets the Travel Boom

2009-11-10

Turpan has met the travel boom since the end of July. According to the local tourism department, more than 10,000 tourists flock to visit the city every day.

After the riot of 7.15 in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, the local government has taken steps to stimulate the city's tourism. Currently, such preferential measures are taken in Turpan: all entrance tickets of the tourist sites are 50 percent discount; the 1,000,000th one who visits Turpan will be free to travel Turpan in his/her lifetime; for the family tour, if the package reached three people, one of them will enjoy free. In addition, many tourism activities are held in Turpan, for example: experience sand treatment in the oasis, ten thousand people hike through the Kumutage Desert, admire the moon on the Aydingkol Lake, taste the famous Turpan grapes in the Grape Valley, enjoy the folk songs and dances in the Uighur villages...with these measures and activities, Turpan's tourism is now as hot as the summer.
