Ranwu Lake

Ranwu Lake is the main supply of Palong Tsangpo, a branch of the Yalu Tsangpo River (aka Yarlung Zangbo River, or Brahmaputra). It is located in the southwest of Rawok in Baxoi of Chamdo prefecture, 90km from the Baima County. The lake covers an area of 22,000 square kilometers with an altitude of 3,850 meters.

The Ranwu Lake is surrounded by many scenic highlights with Ahzhagongla glacier in the south, famous Lagu glacier in the north and Gangri Garpo in southeast and Boshula Mountains in northeast. By the lake are the verdant grassland and plants in harmony with the blue lake and snowy mountains. The lake water appears different colors in different seasons, from aquamarine to turquoise.

The poetic scenery of the Ranwu Lake will drive away any fatigues. Those white glaciers, upright high mountains, green grassland, blue lake water, floating white clouds, lush forest can almost be mistaken for a fairyland.

The scenery of the lake is beautiful all the year round. In the morning and evening especially, it looks like a dreamland.
