Taiping Hou Kui Tea

Taiping Houkui tea or Monkey Picked tea is grown near Mt. Huangshan (the Yellow Mountain), Anhui Province. The mountain is the highest mountain in Eastern China and is one of the most spectacular places on earth. Taiping Houkui is the crown of famous Chinese teas and one of the Top Ten Famous Teas in China. It has won many awards, the most recent being the "King of Tea" award in China Tea Exhibition 2004.

With two leaves and a bud, Taiping Houkui tea is flat and straight in shape covered by obscure white down. The tea leaves assume smooth dark green color on the face and light green on the back, with reddish green in the veins. The processed tea leaves are long and thin. They can be up to 15cm in length. The tea can only be picked for 2 weeks a year. Once picked, the leaves should be produced on the same day. When brewed, the tea leaves, suspended or sunken, free themselves in the clear tender green water, like many monkeys vigorously stretching their neck and tails and playing with you. The tea tastes fresh, mellow and sweet and smells a long-lasting refreshing aroma. The crystal clear green tea water can provide you a tasty and refreshing experience feasting your throat, eyes and spirit.

Brewing Guide:
1.use glass-based or porcelain tea ware.
2.Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water.

4.Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing.
5.Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.
