Central District

Central districts of Hong Kong is the heart and soul of all commercial activities in Hong Kong and most banks and multi-national companies have their offices here. Consulates general and consulates of many countries are also located in this area, as is Government Hill, the site of the government headquarters.

The Central District is located on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, just across the Victoria Harbor from Tsim Sha Tsui, the southernmost point of Kowloon Peninsula. With its proximity to Victoria Harbor, it has been served as the trade and financial activities since year 1840.

Exploring the Central District is easy and convenient as there are traditional street trams run between east and west, which is a really leisure journey through the extremely metropolitan Central. Or just take the Midlevel Escalator and Walkway System and have a comfortable ride, which is the longest outdoor covered escalator system on the planet.

Walking on the street of Central Districts, never hesitate to look up into the vertical sky or you will miss the landmarks and buildings in Hong Kong. There are many high skyscrapers nestled in this area that you can name them by their unique design, the Bank of China building, 50-storey high Jardine House, the War Memorial and so on. While the Hong Kong Park and the Botanical and Zoological Garden provides green spaces in the concrete land.

The Central is one of the areas that visitors like to spend their money. Most well-known among Central District shopping spots are Bonham Strand West, Hollywood Road and Cat Street. There are sites that visitors hang out for fabric, clothes, handbags and souvenirs. Take the Escalator up to Hollywood Road and Cat Street, find the desired antiques and collections in varied-sized antiques shops.
